Infinite Reasons for a Thankful Life

Kevin Harney

Kevin Harney

Want a fresh way to look at preaching on Thanksgiving Day? Check out this week's featured sermon by Pastor Kevin Harney on "A Thankful Life." Harney walks through two Scripture passages—the one leper who gave thanks to Jesus and the litany of thanksgiving in Psalm 136-to explore the infinite reasons we have to live a thankful life. "Here's my question for you," Harney addresses his hearers, "How has God revealed his goodness in your life? How have you experienced the goodness of the God of heaven?" Then, Harney says, slow down and say thanks to God. But even better, live a thankful life!

How do you prepare to preach to the diverse groups of people in your church? How do you reach people outside your demographic? C.J. Coffee frankly admits that he can't do it. Instead, in his article "Sermon Prep as a Team," he has to use a "team-teaching" approach that works through a text with others, getting input based on their gifts, experiences, and perspectives. Check out how he uses this approach to inform his weekly sermon prep.
