Living by Apps Alone

Henry Alford, a writer for The New York Times, undertook a personal challenge to improve his life only through apps for three weeks. (He is not a fan of technology, and this was overcoming some prejudices for him.) What did he do? He downloaded Meal Snap, which gave him a calorie count for meals. Learn Hip Hop Dance and Johnson & Johnson 7 Minute Workout helped him exercise. Household repairs were taken care of by TaskRabbit, which found people with handyman skills willing to help fix his house. Finally, Alford ordered two pairs of pants from a fashion app.

The results? "I'm left with a much-improved apartment, an exercise regimen that I can perform anywhere, two pairs of great-looking wool pants, and many, many iPhone photos of muffins."

Possible Preaching Angle:

His experience is an illustration of how bias can disappear when you actually encounter and experience something that you've been critical of. How many people far from Jesus think they know what Christianity is, but have never truly experienced it? This doesn't dismiss the stories of those who have tried it and been hurt, but many of us need to experience before we judge.
