Pro Baseball Pitcher Returns $500,000

Jeremy Affeldt, a (now retired) relief pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, discovered a clerical error that caused him to be overpaid by half a million dollars in 2013. When Affeldt asked for advice, all three of his expert opinions told him that he was legally entitled to keep the money. But that still didn't sit well with this athlete who identifies himself as a Christian.

Affeldt's agent, Michael Moye, told him, "As your agent I've got to tell you that legally you can keep it. As a man who represents integrity, I'm saying you should give it back." And that's what Affeldt did. He said, "I can't take that money. I won't sleep well at night knowing I took that money because every time I open my paycheck I'll know it's not right."
