Even Movie Moguls Die

"I do not intend to sell. I do not intend to retire. And I do not intend to die."

—Lew Wasserman, former chairman and chief executive of Music Corporation of America (which later became Universal Studios), described by many in Hollywood as the mogul of moguls and the godfather of Hollywood.

Wasserman sold MCA to the Matsushita Electric Industrial Company of Japan in 1990. He died June 3, 2002, at age 89.

The New York Times described Wasserman as "arguably the most powerful and influential Hollywood titan in the four decades after World War II."
