Preparation: Introduction

How should I invest my limited study time so that I am ready to preach?

Introduction

Welcome to PreachingToday.com continuing education. These interactive classes are designed for those who desire to keep growing in faithfulness and effectiveness as preachers of God's Word. The classes include reading assignments, audio workshops, self-evaluations, and recommended exercises for implementing the lessons learned.

This class covers the subject of sermon preparation. Our surveys show that pastors are intensely interested in hearing how other pastors prepare to preach. Is there a best practice, or is sermon preparation utterly idiosyncratic? How can we get the best return on time invested? How can we plan ahead for a year of messages? How do we cooperate with the Holy Spirit in the process of sermon writing?

In the first segment of this class, you will read and listen to workshops on sermon preparation. In the second segment, you will find a plan for evaluating and improving your sermon preparation. And finally, we offer additional resources for those who want to pursue the topic further.
