Avoiding Identity Theft: Remember Who You Are

"Remember who you are." That's the theme of Jeff Manion's stirring new sermon "The Power of Identity." We offer it to you, first of all, because we believe it will encourage your soul. As preachers, we need to find our identity in Christ, not our role or performance. But we also think it's a fabulous example of sermon writing. As you read it, you'll see a masterful example of how to recapture the original text and then apply it to today. You'll also notice Manion's clear big idea ("remember who you are") and simple outline.

Also, as we weep with the people of Japan, we want to provide you some resources to help you guide your people through tragedy. Here are a few powerful sermons about dealing with crises: "Jesus Wept" by Bryan Chapell, and "Why It's Hard to Worship" by John Koessler. Also, you can find some helpful illustrations by doing a search on the word "tragedy." May we continue in prayer for suffering people around the globe!

As we journey towards Good Friday and Easter, may your preaching lead people into a season of repentance and renewal.

In Christ, God-with-us,
