A Pearl of (Very) Great Price

A tourism officer in the Philippines recently unveiled a family treasure: a 75-pound pearl. The officer, Aileen Cynthia Maggay-Amurao, received the pearl from a relative when he was moving; he had found the pearl inside a giant clam while fishing and "kept it as a good-luck charm." The pearl then stayed under his bed for 10 years. Now, however, it's on display in the local city hall. Measuring more than two feet long and one foot wide, the pearl could potentially be "the largest natural pearl ever found in a giant clam." Doesn't this story make you wonder what other treasures people might be hiding under their beds, in their closets, or up in their attics?
