Your Kids' Media Problem Starts with You

Most experts agree that "digital overload" can impair a child's social, emotional, and intellectual growth. But here's a novel way to address that problem— Parents, deal with your own media obsession problem first. According to a recent article, Dr. Steiner-Adair, author of "The Big Disconnect: Protecting Childhood and Family Relationships in the Digital Age," cited two common parental behaviors that can strongly influence a child's tendency to abuse electronic media. Other parents fail to establish and enforce appropriate rules for media engagement by their children."
