Seven People Die Trying to Retrieve 75 Cents

In a tragic news item, seven people, including an 11-year-old boy, died in Cambodia after trying to retrieve the equivalent of about 75 cents that had fallen down a well. While one man was drawing water, the money fell into the well, prompting a doomed effort to retrieve it. Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world, and that amount of money was "huge for poor people like us," said the sister of one of the dead.

Possible Preaching Angle:

What is your life worth? What would need to be on the line for you to put it in danger? While 75 cents seems insignificant to many of us from richer countries, it was enough to start a deadly chain of events that took seven lives. It puts wealth in perspective.
