Tarp and Brick Demonstrate Our Earthly and Heavenly Bodies

Text: "For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down, we will have a home in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands" (2 Corinthians 5:1).

Purpose: To feel the difference between something that is temporary and something that is lasting

Objects: A large tarp (or tent) and a brick

Experience: I begin with the tarp open, but as I read, "When this earthly tent we live in is taken down," I fold up the tarp. As I read, "We will have a home in heaven," I hold up the brick.

Then I say, "Just as a brick home is much more lasting, beautiful, and strong than a tent, so our resurrection bodies will be much more lasting, beautiful, and strong than the ones we have now."
