Graffiti Artist Dies Leaving His Mark

Peter Berry wanted to leave a mark. So he became a graffiti artist—a tagger—with the nickname Kiser. He was gifted, by all accounts, and was in art school. But he wouldn't give up the illegal and dangerous night-prowling to tag buildings, fences, underpasses, and even cranes. Worm, another tagger who wouldn't give his real name, was a fan. "Peter wasn't just any bomber, he was one of the greatest," he said. "He climbed to the highest spots. He had guts. His name was known. His name will still be known." Peter Berry was killed in the early morning hours of Aug. 16, 2004, hit by a northbound CTA train. He was 22.

Lots of people want to leave a mark, to be known and remembered. But they're all dead-end efforts without Christ. Jesus redeems our lives to significance here in this life, and records our name in heaven's Book of Life.
