A Relucant Celebrity

One afternoon, Tish, a young mother in our church, had run out of ideas to keep her two children, Julie and Jonathon, busy. Then she remembered a sign announcing a tie design contest to benefit "Save the Children."

Tish pulled out the finger-paints and a few minutes later Jonathon held up his masterpiece of several colorful flowers. The following day Tish mailed in her children's entries.

Imagine the family's delight when they received word that out of thousands of entries Jonathon's was chosen as one of the ten finalists! The artwork was sent to Italy and beautifully reproduced on handsome silk ties sold all over the country.

Locally, Jonathon was an instant celebrity--featured in articles and television interviews. But Tish knew the fame was getting to her young son when during an interview he turned to her and said, "Mom, could we just pretend Julie painted the flowers?"
