Taming the Pet Peeve

In college I shared a single bathroom with six other girls. I enjoyed communal living except for one minor irritation: the little blobs of toothpaste left in the bathroom sink every morning.

My roommates--who took my gentle chiding in the right spirit--thought they'd better warn my fiance. So they took him aside and said, "Remember, she's really picky about toothpaste left in the sink."

He did remember. On the first morning of our honeymoon, I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. There, written in the sink in thick, blue toothpaste, was the greeting "Hi Jenn!"
