Jitters at the Altar

Two ministers were discussing the advisability of writing down the names of brides and grooms to aid their memory at the ceremony. One man said, "I once called the groom by the wrong name."

The other man said, "I once started a ceremony and realized I couldn't remember whether the groom was John or James. I whispered to the groom, 'Is your name James or John?' 'James,' he replied. Then the bride nudged the groom and said, 'Your name is John.'"
