Filmmaker Looks for the Meaning of Life in 'Regular People'

Film producer Yann Arthus-Bertrand has taken on an ambitious task: capturing the human experience on earth through film. His latest project, called Human, shows men and women from a diverse array of backgrounds answering questions such as "What is the meaning of life?" and "Do you feel free?"

The film is simple, and completely anonymous—no names, nationalities, or titles are given. Several recognizable celebrities such as Microsoft founder Bill Gates were interviewed for the project, but failed to make the final cut because their interviews reportedly lacked the emotion and candor of "regular" people. "I feel like we are touching upon something essential," said Arthus-Bertrand. "What does it mean to be a human being?"

Possible Preaching Angle:

The filmmaker is right—the question is essential. So is the answer.
