Finish the Race, Then Celebrate

Your heart pounding, your muscles aching, you see the finish line approaching as you lead the race. With overwhelming joy, you start to celebrate your victory, even smiling for the camera. But then—Oops!—someone passes you on your left and you go from first to second in the blink of an eye. This is what happened to a runner from the University of Oregon, in the men's steeplechase. Oregon's Tanguy Pepiot thought he had the win in the bag, but Meron Simon, a runner from the University of Washington, overtook the celebrating Pepiot at the line. "Pepiot's emotions appear to go from pure euphoria to complete confusion to devastation as he realized he actually lost." As the great Yogi Berra said, "It ain't over till it's over."

Possible Preaching Angle:

Or as the great Apostle Paul wrote, " I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
