Charitable Gifts More Likely at Christmastime

A recent study by Harris Interactive, on behalf of World Vision, shows that many U. S. adults (49 percent) are more likely to give a charitable gift as a holiday present this year. Also according to the survey, three out of four U.S. adults would prefer to receive a meaningful gift this holiday season that would help someone else instead of a traditional gift like clothing or electronics. Reflecting on the findings, Justin Greeves, senior vice president of public affairs and policy at Harris Interactive, said, "Even in these difficult times, an overwhelming majority of Americans still want to help others in need."

The poll was conducted by telephone among 1,001 U. S. adults from October 29, 2009, to November 1 2009.
