  • Americans who believe in the Virgin Birth: 61 percent

  • Americans who believe in the survival of the soul after death: 68 percent

  • Americans who believe in heaven: 73 percent

  • Americans who believe in hell: 62 percent

  • Americans who believe in the Devil: 59 percent

  • Americans who believe in miracles: 75 percent

  • Americans who believe in angels: 71 percent

  • Americans who believe in evolution: 47 percent

  • Americans who believe in creationism: 40 percent

  • Americans who believe all or most of the Old Testament is the Word of God: 55 percent

  • Americans who believe all or most of the New Testament is the Word of God: 54 percent

  • Americans who describe themselves as "very religious": 23 percent

  • Americans who describe themselves as "somewhat religious": 45 percent

  • Americans who attend church each week: 27 percent

  • Americans who attend church once a year: 36 percent

  • Americans who never attend church: 18 percent
