What a relief! I used to feel guilty when some people asked me if I had read "all those books" in what I consider my small library. I used to answer them like the men of David coming from killing Absalom. Reading your article, I could understood myself and be sure that my reply was right. I got books first, because I love a good book, second because though I have not read all of them, they are like a cold medication on my shelf, I will need them sometime ahead, third, I love books and buy them because I respect a lot and admire greatly those whom write them. Should just one phrase in a book blesses me, I buy it. It is tribute to the author and a way of saying - Thank you so much, you helped me to grow a little bit more!

I enjoyed the article. I have hundreds of books in my library. My office and library is my finished basement where I do all of my studies. Even during college, my professors were impressed at the volume of books that I had on hand and my knowledge of the subjects. I have some digital stuff too but I like the paper text.

One can never have enough books. There are the ones that brought you up and led you to an exchanged life with Christ. There are those who helped you in another's struggle. There are those (like Barth's Dogmatics) which one swims in for awhile realizing the depths of these great writers' souls. Then there are those which are new, and help us connect with a new generation. I couldn't agree more. The books God uses, besides His book, are precious indeed.
Thanks! Great article. I couldn't agree more about digitial books. They're just not the same.
