Introduction

·        Illustration: A quote from Brother Lawrence on practicing the presence of God.

·        Taking God as your partner is the first step in practicing the presence of God.

·        God wants to be part of our lives.

·        Psalm 127:1

God wants to be in charge of our responsibilities.

·        Whatever it is you have to do, God wants you to do it his way because his way is always the best way.

·        We are to surrender our responsibilities to his control.

·        Illustration: A new CEO of a pizza company gives God the glory for it's successful turnaround.

·        God wants to be in charge; he wants to build the house, the business, the family.

Giving God responsibility for your life does not relieve you of responsibility.

·        Psalm 127:1

·        Giving God responsibility for your life doesn’t eliminate your responsibility; it empowers you because you are trusting Jesus for the results.

·        Illustration: A popular bumper sticker, reading “God is my co-pilot,” was recently replaced with a new one reading: “God is my pilot. I’m just the co-pilot.”

·        We can’t ask God to simply bless what we do; we must ask him to show us what and how to do what he wants done.

Giving God responsibility is the key to finding peace.

·        Psalm 127:2

·        Taking responsibility is not the same as worrying.

·        When you give God responsibility for your life, it means things always work out the way that he, in his sovereign mercy, allows them to.

·        Romans 8:28

·        If you are attempting to build your own house and also watch over and protect the whole city, it’s all in vain.

Conclusion

·        Big Idea: There’s only one place of peace in this world: living everyday, all day, day in, day out, in the presence of God.

·        When you take God as your partner, he is the senior partner and you are the junior partner.
