Text: 1 Corinthians 15
Topic: Easter is your greatest victory because of what Christ has done for you.
Introduction:
- 1 Corinthians 15 tells how God's love gives us our greatest victory.
"I want to remind you of something."
Illustration: A professor's wife reminds her husband at breakfast that they're moving that day, and to go home to the new house after work. He forgets, returns to the old house to find it empty, and asks a child playing nearby for help. The boy replies, "Mother said you would forget."
- Easter is a time to vividly remember some things, like God's power in creation.
- Easter reminds us that God has been at work in history.
Easter is your greatest victory because of what Christ did for you.
- Easter gives us victory over sin, through Jesus Christ.
- Easter gives us victory in life because of Christ's forgiveness.
- Easter gives us victory over death, because of eternal life in Christ.
Illustration: When Pollard's mother died, a granddaughter was reading the Psalm. Pollard's mother quoted the last line, "And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." She closed her eyes, and went and did just that.
The Easter message isn't just an announcement; it's an offer.
- One must receiver the offer and come to Christ as Lord and Savior.
Conclusion:
- "Christ is the captain of my soul."
