Text: 1 Samuel 18:111
Topic: How to handle anger
Introduction:
- Anger
is a reality for all of us.
- At
times anger is appropriate, but other times it is invalid.
- There
three things you can do with anger.
You Can Try to Repress Anger.
- But it
will affect you spiritually.
- But it
will affect you physically.
- But it
will affect you psychologically.
- But it
will affect you socially.
You Can Try to Express Anger.
- But it
is destructive if it is a decoy.
- But it
is destructive if it is out of time frame.
Illustration: Evans tells how there is no point in
punishing his dog for stealing the turkey unless the punishment comes
reasonably close to the time of the crime.
- But it
is destructive if it is insensitive to intensity and mode of expression.
You Can Try to Reconcile Anger.
- After
Peter's denial of Jesus, Jesus reconciled with Peter.
-
Illustration:
The Bessemer converter process turns pig iron into a higher quality
steel with tremendous strength.
- When
God carries out reconciliation in your life, it will become a special
steel.
Conclusion:
- Take
advantage of God's resources of reconciliation even if others do not.
- You
can go at peace and live for tomorrow.
