How much does it cost Americans to stay fit? Here are some stats to prove that we often go all out to keep our bodies in shape:

  • 58 million Americans have a gym membership (but 67 percent of those people never use their memberships).
  • Health clubs rake in $21.8 billion per year in revenues.
  • The average cost per person for a membership is $58.
  • Among gym users, 13.5 percent use personal trainers, the average price per session is $65.
  • Americans also spend upwards of $30 billion a year on athletic apparel.
